SUMMARY:Steve Stark - An Illustrated History of the Red River Valley
DESCRIPTION:Steve Stark\, political cartoonist\, illustrator and writer\, will be telling the illustrated story of the settlement of the Red River Valley\, highlighting the importance of preservation of our historical landmarks\, in a presentation scheduled for Wednesday\, March 22 at 2:00 pm at the Grafton Middle School gymnasium. \nStark has combined his drawing with an appreciation of history. His Illustrated History programs bring history to life in an unusual way when he tells stories of our heritage while fast-drawing them in charcoal on long rolls of mounted paper. \nSteve has presented a variety of history programs in 100 North Dakota cities as well as throughout the region\, 28 states and Washington DC. He has been a North Dakota Humanities Council traveling scholar with his presentations as Theodore Roosevelt and a North Dakota Council on the Arts artist-in-residence. \nHe has also appeared as Theodore Roosevelt in a 2001 documentary broadcast on The History Channel and History Channel International. \nThe event is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to enter the school property off of 15th St. and LaVergne Ave and park east of the gymnasium. Entrance to the facility is through Door #27.
